Position Summary:

The Infusion Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for patient care within their scope of practice in the clinic setting. They may also perform administrative tasks and interact with payors as needed to meet clinic needs. The registered nurse works with leadership and a supervising nurse practitioner to maximize clinic efficiency. Attendance at continuing education as necessary to maintain current licensure in all states providing care is also required

Reports to: Infusion Clinic Nurse Practitioner

Education and Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in good standing with all governing bodies.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • CRNI preferred. IgCN desirable.

  • Excellent IV skills, ability to multitask, and exemplary customer service skills are required.

  • Proficient at computer programs used in the center, as well as accuracy in typing.

  • Two years of infusion experience in specialty infusion therapy including patient assessment skills, various venous access skills, and emergency patient care are preferred.

  • Bilingual is desirable.

Health Status Requirements:

  • Appropriate immunizations current and TB screening (as required by policy).

  • Hepatitis B vaccine or signed waiver.

  • Other State and Federal required health tests allowable by law.

JOB DESCRIPTION KEY INDICATORS

Major Responsibilities

  • Abides by company policies and procedures, INS and IgNS standards of practice, OSHA guidelines, and applicable state Board of Nursing regulations.

  • Provides infusion and other skilled nursing care to patients including, but not limited to patient assessments, patient/caregiver teaching, administering ordered therapies based on prescriber orders, facility protocols, INS and IgNS standards. Monitors patient response and responds to emergency patient needs and psychosocial support.

  • Ensures exemplary regulatory compliance.

  • Completes admission process as needed.

  • Performs physical assessment as needed on each patient using clinic guidelines.

  • Documents patient assessments and care notes accurately and promptly and communicates significant changes or observations to prescriber, following up as warranted.

  • Evaluates patient records prior to scheduled infusions to ensure clinical criteria and interim clinical studies are performed and are within acceptable limits.

  • Communicates effectively with other staff on patient status and observations.

  • Evaluates the patient's response to therapy and documents findings in the medical record.

  • Takes professional responsibility for self-protection during required work in potentially hazardous situations (e.g., handling of blood and body fluids, perception of and removes self from threatening environments).

  • Is a good steward of supplies and resources.

  • Represents self professionally and ethically at all times

  • Spearheads gathering of information to contribute to the quality program, in conjunction with clinic policies and all regulatory statutes.

  • Supervises the monitoring of lab results on all applicable patients and ensures lab results are communicated to the prescriber and uploaded to the patient’s EMR.

  • Ensures that all medication orders are complete, appropriate, accurate, and up to date prior to treatment.

  • Maintains professional licensure, certification, and health requirements as well as demonstrating clinical competence in orientation programs and other designated functions.

  • Participates in the orientation of other clinical and non-clinical staff, and in the validation of competency.

  • Assists in effective communication between the patient and the company, including documentation of suggestions, complaints, and requests.

  • Engages with specialists and other community providers as an ambassador for infusion services.

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

 Technical

  • Ability to learn and become competent with technology and partner programs where applicable (i.e. Epic, Office 365, WeInfuse, RxToolkit, and other programs utilized).

  • Ability to learn and become competent with third-party referral platforms as needed to maintain efficient workflow.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $88,000.  Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certification, etc. This position also comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and paid holidays.
